A "build" in Nioh 3 is more than just stats. It's a combination of Set Bonuses, Guardian Spirits, and Playstyle.

1. The "Red Demon" (Best Starter Build)
Role: Fast Attacker / Fire Specialist
Available: Region 1 (Farming "Ii Naomasa" Duel)
Gear Setup
- Weapon: Red Demon Spear (Fire Imbued)
- Armor: Red Demon Set (Light Armor)
- Guardian Spirit: Enko (Fire Tiger)
Why it works?
Restoring your Ki faster (A Agility) allows you to dodge spam. The set bonus gives extra damage against "Scorched" enemies. Use Fire Shuriken or Gunpowder Bombs to set the boss on fire, then poke them to death with the spear.
2. The "Obsidian Samurai" (Mid-Game Tank)
Role: Heavy Tank / Lightning Bruiser
Available: Region 3
Gear Setup
- Weapon: Axe / Odachi (Scale with Stamina)
- Armor: Obsidian Set (Heavy Armor)
- Stat Goal: 99 Stamina
Why it works?
This build scales its damage with Stamina, meaning you get damage AND carry weight capacity at the same time. You can trade hits with bosses and win. Just make sure to use Lightning Talismans to slow enemies down.
3. The "Dragon Ninja" (Endgame Glass Cannon)
Role: Burst DPS
Available: New Game+ (Way of the Strong)
Gear Setup
- Weapon: Dragon Sword / Falcon Claws
- Armor: Hayabusa Battle Attire
- Ninjutsu: Raijin Feathers, Quick Change Scroll
Why it works?
It grants "True Dragon Sword" bonus (massive damage boost). You have almost 0 defense, so one hit might kill you. But you can kill bosses in 10 seconds. Use Quick Change Scrolls to revive if you mess up.
Pick one problem → change one lever:
- Out of Ki: shorten strings + earlier Ki Pulse
- Can’t open guards: more Samurai pressure
- Get clipped: reduce commitment + Ninja resets
